Project: AsterNode webSocket interface to Asterisk PBX
AsterNode aims raise funds and crew to port an opensource project originally written in PHP to NodeJS and establish an ecosystem for synchronized telephony/web applications. AsterClick was the first system ever to provide an event driven (No Polling) interface to the Asterisk PBX. Unlike the attempts of others in this space , reflection of Asterisk events as browser events has an extremely low latency, such that a [hold] lamp on a phone and the equivalent indicator in a web page appear to respond at the same instant. Not only does it allow for every asterisk telephony event to be captured real-time in browsers as in addEventListener("ring",...) , but it allows voice and browser to move together as a single experience. Much as with the original proof of concept version AsterNode will handle call queues , conferencing , and even modifications to the asterisk dialplan without in many cases even having to reload it. AsterNode like AsterClick is aimed at providing a development platform for telephony rich applications that can be crafted by average web developers using W3C and similar standards they already know.
